TORNADO WARNING For Portions of Hernando, Pasco and Sumter Counties

REGIONAL: The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for Hernando, Sumter and Pasco Counties until 8:00 p.m this evening.

Strong winds and large hail are expected throughout the regions.

  • A tornado WATCH means conditions are favorable for a tornado to develop. A tornado WARNING means a tornado has be sighted and you should seek shelter immediately. I am sure, at 2:19 this afternoon, there could have been a WARNING, but only a WATCH would be in effect for several hours. No tornado would be sighted and be a concern for 6 hours later (until 8PM).

    So Tom, there may have been a tornado warning at 2:19 PM when you issued this post..but it would be more appropriate that a WATCH would remain in effect until 8PM certainly NOT a warning.

  • More information on this? Because it seems to me that you only gave us very little information on this ‘Tornado Warning’. I just Google’d “Hernando County weather” and got back that we are under a Tornado Watch until 7pm, and Hernando County is NOT on that list of counties under this watch. Sumter is on that list, though, so you straight-up lied to everyone.
