Trooper Nearly Collides with Intoxicated Wrong Way Driver
NEW PORT RICHEY (PASCO) – Last Night, Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Nick Dolan was patrolling the southbound lanes of U.S. 19, when he observed a Silver Dodge pickup truck traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. Trooper Dolan was nearly struck by the vehicle, in the area of Marine Parkway, so he conducted a traffic stop. During his investigation, it was determined that the driver, 48-year-old Wade Monroe McKinney, of Brooksville, was intoxicated and subsequently charged with DUI. McKinney was also cited with traveling in the wrong direction on a divided highway. McKinney was transported to the Pasco County Jail, where he was released this morning on a $500 bond.
McKinney is no stranger to law enforcement; in 2007, McKinney was released from prison, after serving over 15 years, for charges ranging from Grand Theft, Forgery and even Armed Burglary. McKinney’s most recent charge was from 2011, after he was arrested for driving on a suspended license and violating probation.
