Two Dead in Separate Motorcycle Crashes
BROOKSVILLE – Fire Rescue responded to Hayman Road last night, after reports of a motorcycle crash near the intersection of Batten Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 48-year-old Anthony Mounsey of Largo was driving his Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Hayman Road, when he lost control attempting to negotiate a left curve. As a result, Mounsey struck a utility pole and was ejected into a roadside fence.
Mounsey was airlifted to Bayonet Point Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
HUDSON (PASCO) – A second crash claimed the life of a Spring Hill man last night, after he was struck and killed, driving his Harley Davidson Motorcycle along U.S. 19.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 56-year-old Ricardo Fernandez was traveling northbound, approaching the intersection of Viva Via Drive, when a Ford F150, driven by 20-year-old Crimson Hadsell pulled onto U.S. 19, directly into the path of his motorcycle. Both drivers took evasive action, in an attempt to avoid the collision, but Fernandez struck the rear of the pickup truck and died at the scene of the crash.
Hadsell was cited for violating the right-of-way. No other charges are expected and alcohol was not a factor, according to officials.
