Vehicle Destroyed in Brush Fire, Firefighters Working to Protect Structures
UPDATE: 3:08 P.M. – The fire is under control and fully contained at this time.
WEEKI WACHEE – Firefighters are battling an approximated 2-acre brush fire in the area of Lelani Drive and Poplar Ave.
According to sources, residents were burning debris in the area of the 13000 block of Lelani Drive, when the fire got out of control and began to spread.
There are unconfirmed reports that a vehicle has burned as a result of the brush fire.
Firefighter are currently working to protect other structures in the area at this time.
The Florida Forest Service and Citrus County Fire Rescue is assisting with bringing the blaze under control.
