DEVELOPING: Voluntary Evacuations Underway as Brush Fires Approach Populated Areas
UPDATE: 4/11/2017, 11:00 A.M. – Pasco County’s Emergency Management has lifted a voluntary evacuation for all residents. The Fasano Regional Hurricane Shelter is now closed.
UPDATE: 5:07 P.M. – Fire Officials say the two brushfires off of SR 52 and Hays Road are called the Silver Palms and Campground Fire, respectively.
NEW PORT RICHEY (PASCO) – Firefighters in Pasco County are battling two brushfires in the area of SR-52 and Moon Lake Road.
Pasco County Emergency Management is recommending a voluntary evacuation for residents in the Suncoast Lakes Subdivision and are asking residents east of Moon Lake Road, and south of SR -52 to be prepared to evacuate.
The Fasano Regional Hurricane Shelter opened at 4:30 p.m. and is located at 11611 Denton Avenue in Hudson. Residents who need transportation or assistance can call the Resident Information Center (RIC) at 727-847-2411
Fire Officials say the brush fire is heading west towards the Moon Lake area at this time.
