Woman Charged with Felony Child Abuse After Running Over Bicycle
BROOKSVILLE – A Brooksville woman is charged with felony child abuse, after a family dispute led to her running over a teenage boy’s bicycle with her car.
Officials say 49-year-old Denise Michelle Davis was having issues the victim who is presumed to Davis’ teenage son, over her romantic relationship with another minor. Officials are not revealing the relationship between Davis and the minor victim, the identities of the minors, or the gender of the second minor involved.
According to reports, on Saturday Davis located the victim in the company of the other minor and parent, Dana Buck. Davis followed the trio from an unspecified location, back to her residence on Wallien Drive, where she proceeded to block the roadway with her car.
The minor victim attempted to leave on a bicycle but Davis used her car to run over the bike, causing him to fall. The victim was not injured in the crash but the bicycle was lodged under the vehicle. Dana Buck attempted to intervene and was subsequently pushed by Davis.
During an interview with Sheriff’s Deputies, Davis admitted to running over the bicycle and pushing Dana Buck. Davis was booked into the Hernando County Jail and charged with Domestic Child Abuse and Simple Battery. Davis is free on $2,000 bond.
