Woman Claiming to Have Gun Robs Taxi Driver

BROOKSVILLE – Just after midnight this morning, Brooksville Police responded to a report of a Strong Armed Robbery at the intersection of Russell Street and Main Street. According to officials, 23-year-old Keyonna Denaye Cole battered a taxicab driver and stole money from his shirt pockets, while claiming to have a gun.

Brooksville Police deployed a K-9 unit to the scene and located the suspect’s jacket near the scene; which then led them to where she was hiding on a vacant lot on S. Brooksville Ave. The victim positively identified the suspect and Cole was placed under arrest. While seated in the back of a patrol car Cole removed a baggie of methamphetamine and left it in the backseat.

Cole is charged with Robbery and Possession of Methamphetamine. She remains behind bars, held on $7,000 bond.
