Jeep Collides with Motorcycles, Killing One, Injuring Two

ZEPHYRHILLS (PASCO) – On Saturday RNRF reported the tragic death of a man who was struck from behind by an SUV while driving a motorcycle on SR-52 (ORIGINAL STORY).

A similar incident occurred yesterday on Chancey Road, where a Brooksville woman failed to stop for slowing traffic and subsequently struck several motorcycles, killing an elderly man and injuring two others.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 35-year-old Kara Perrini was traveling westbound on Chancey Road in her 2004 Jeep Liberty when she failed to notice two vehicles in front of her braking near Yonkers Blvd. As a result, Perrini’s Jeep collided with the rear of a Nissan cargo van, which propelled that vehicle into a Chrysler Sedan. After the initial collision, Perrini’s Jeep veered into the eastbound lanes and struck two motorcycles. A third motorcycle drove off the roadway and struck a fence, in an effort to avoid colliding with the Jeep.

Officials say 77-year-old Donald Ross of Zephyrhills suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. William Sly, 66 suffered serious injuries and Patsy Ross, 74 suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Charges are pending.

  • Robert Curtis, you a really reaching with your statement, “Maybe Opinionated would like all of us to loose our rights and be communist.” I challenge you to show how I expressed the want to take away a person’s rights or where I thought communism was the answer. I want people to take responsibility for driving a motorized form of transportation.

  • In my opinion, it doesn’t matter what anyone say’s about the poor innocent bikers. The man is dead! Maybe Opinionated would like all of us to loose our rights and be communist. This is supposed to be a free country, free speech, free to ride, free until you plow into someone biker or other, then you should have to pay for your mistakes!

  • Say what, absolutely I want motor cycles to carry insurance. I want motor cycles to have the necessary insurance to cover there medical costs, replacement of their bike in the unlikelyhoodds they survive an accident and to protect those they may hurt. So yes in case I wasn’t clear, I absolutely want motorcycles to carry insurance. Cars should also be required to carry $50,000 in minimum coverage. As the cost of hospital stays grow, so should minimum insurance requirements.

  • A woman runs into 2 vehicles and also motorcycles KILLING one and you are wanting motorcycle riders to carry MORE INSURANCE? Sorry you are messed up in the head. Florida no fault is ridiculous anyway for all of us. Prayers for the family and friends of this poor man that was killed. Throw the book at the CARELESS, STUPID DRIVER, but they won’t ! !!!

  • At the rate motorcyclists are getting killed you would think people would stop riding. Defending riding by saying “look twice” or “put down the phone” is silly. Motorcycles almost always lose when cars are involved. The state is looking at changing insurance laws from the current “no fault” system and raising the minimum coverage to $25000. I really hope they add a provision requiring motorcyclists to carry both comprehensive and collision coverage.

  • I where a helmet but what difference would it make when some————————- comes head on in your lane, Probably better off without a helmet at that point. Better off just going on than to try and suffer for years to come . especially at 77 years of age. Pay attention, we cyclist are human beings, Sorry that there are people out there that hate us so much they would rather see us dead. Ride on, live and let live !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What Difference Does it Make (KARMA?) The Man is DEAD! Plus Florida LAW Does not require Helmets

    Wednesday, 29 March 2017, 4:21 pm
  • “Karma” That is a stupid comment. Helmets do not save everyone every time. Head on collision with a jeep at highway speeds and the helmet would not make any difference regardless.

      • Chris, who made you the posting police? Does your opinion count more than anyone else’s? Sometimes real names can’t be used because people have careers that don’t allow for names to be used. Others work for people that don’t care what their employees say or do. So I guess you’re lucky enough that your employer could careless.
