Woman Escapes Near Drowning After Boyfriend Holds Her Underwater
SPRING HILL – A day of swimming turned eerily violent after a man held his girlfriend of just 7-months underwater and refused to let her up for air.
According to officials, 39-year-old Robert Temple was swimming with his girlfriend at their residence on Fairview Road when Temple pushed his girlfriend under the water. The victim struggled with Temple but he kept pushing her in the chest to hold her down. Eventually, the victim was able to break free and run inside the house to call 911. But Temple followed the victim inside, grabbed her by the ankle and twisted it in an attempt to stop her from contacting law enforcement.
Temple was located at the intersection of Broad Street and Grand Entrada Blvd in Brooksville, where he was taken into custody. Temple is charged with Domestic Battery and Tampering with a witness. Bond is set at $32,500 due to the nature of the attack. Temple remains behind bars at this time.
It should be noted that Temple had only lived with his girlfriend for one month before the incident occurred.
