Woman Leaves 4, 2, Year Old Siblings Home Alone While She Shops for Cell Phone
HUDSON (PASCO) – A woman faces felony child abuse charges after leaving her two young children home alone while she shopped for a new cell phone.
According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, 27-Year-Old Kristy Miller left her 2-year-old son in the care of her 4-year-old daughter on Monday morning, while she shopped at a local Walmart for over 4-hours. Minutes after she left the children alone, a U.S. Postal worker knocked Miller’s door to deliver a package and made the disturbing discovery. The Postal worker contacted her supervisor who in turn contacted law enforcement.
Around 3:00 p.m. deputies arrived at the residence to conduct a welfare check on the children. According to reports, the older sister opened the door with her little brother who was holding a small kitchen knife.
While deputies were on the scene, Miller arrived home in a car with a male that she had just met.
A DCF investigator interviewed Miller and placed her children into protective custody. Miller was arrested and charged with felony child abuse.
Miller is currently behind bars at the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center, held on a $5,000 bond.
