Woman Leaves Toddler Home Alone While She Goes Drinking at Local Bar
SPRING HILL – A night of drinking at a local bar led to one woman’s arrest after she left her 3-year-old child home alone.
That’s what officials say happened early Wednesday morning, after 27-year-old Kristen Nicole Broker left her son alone at their residence on Lamson Ave, while she went to Delirium Sports Bar and Lounge on Mariner Blvd to drink.
Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the residence and arrived just as Broker was being dropped off. Deputies asked Broker if she knew where her son was, and she confirmed that he was inside the home by himself. Once inside the residence, the child was found sitting up in Broker’s bed and appeared worried and scared.
Broker confirmed that she had been drinking since 1:30 p.m. the day before but that she had only left her son alone for about 30 minutes. Deputies say Broker appeared to be highly intoxicated and even “appeared almost as if she did not believe it was an issue to leave her child alone.”
Broker was taken into custody and charged with child neglect. She has since posted a $500.00 bond. The child was placed into the custody of his father.
Broker was arrested last year for domestic battery, after an argument ensued with her boyfriend over her drinking problem. The dispute turned violent when her boyfriend poured a bottle of liquor down the sink. That’s when reports say Broker slapped him in the face numerous times, grabbed him by the throat, and struck him with a broom. The vicious attack continued while her boyfriend was loading his things into a truck to try and leave.
A Judge eventually abandoned the case against broker, due to the victim no longer desiring to pursue prosecution.
