Woman Makes Suicidal Statements with Newborn Inside Car, Tries to Run Over Boyfriend
BROOKSVILLE – A couple’s domestic dispute turned violent yesterday, after a woman struck her live-in boyfriend with a car for refusing to obey her commands to get inside. The victim says he left his mother’s house on Emerson Road and was walking down Powell Road when his girlfriend, 20-year-old Shyanne Emberblee Sekela began following him in a 2004 Honda Accord. Sekela yelled at her boyfriend to get in the car but he refused. That’s when officials say Sekela intentionally accelerated the car and struck her boyfriend in the knees. The victim says he was forced to place his hands on the hood and push away from the car to prevent being dragged underneath. During the violent incident, the victim says Sekela was making suicidal statements while the couple’s two-month old daughter was inside the car.
During an interview with deputies, Sekela denied striking the victim with the car and making suicidal statements. But Deputy Steven George went the extra mile to prove the victim’s account of what happened. With the use of fingerprint powder, George processed the area where the victim says he placed his hand on the hood and discovered fresh fingerprints exactly where he stated they would be.
Sekela was placed under arrest for felony aggravated battery (domestic) and held on a $2,500 bond.
