Woman Sprays Man with Febreze in Attempt to Stop Strangulation, Suspect Faces Felony Battery, Drug Charges
NEW PORT RICHEY (PASCO) – A domestic dispute turned violent Wednesday, after a man attempted to strangle his girlfriend at their home on Leisure Lane.
According to officials, 45-year-old James John Patrick Sr. shoved a beer can into the mouth of his live-in girlfriend and then pushed her onto the bed, where he proceeded to place his hands around her neck. In an attempt to break free from Patrick, the victim grabbed a can of Febreze and sprayed it in his face. When that didn’t work, she grabbed a CD stand and struck him in the head. Deputies arrived on scene a short time later and placed Patrick into custody – charging him with felony domestic battery.
During a search, deputies located a small amount of marijuana in Patrick’s pockets and subsequently charged him with possession.
Patrick is currently behind bars at the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center, held on a $2,150 bond.
The victim was not seriously injured during the attack.
