Woman with Long History of Domestic Violence Turns to Burglary and Grand Theft Auto
SPRING HILL – After numerous domestic battery charges, civil protection orders and even a 180 day sentence in county jail, it would seem that 44-year-old Angelique Annette DeRoide would have learned how to control her anger issues. Not the case according to an arrest affidavit released this morning by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
Yesterday, officials say Angelique entered her ex-husband’s home on Heathcliff Street without his permission and began arguing with him. After calling 911, her ex-husband, John Deroide, exited the home to wait for law enforcement.
Before deputies arrived on the scene, Angelique began kicking John’s bedroom door, attempting to gain entry. After unsuccessful attempts, she gained entry through a bathroom window and stole the keys to his 2015 Dodge Challenger.
When John re-entered his home, Angelique jumped into the Challenger and sped away.
Later that day, Brooksville Police spotted the vehicle driving in the area of Hale Ave and after a short pursuit Angelique was taken into custody.
Angelique is charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, grand theft auto, and criminal mischief. She remains behind bars held on a $7,500 bond.
Angelique DeRoide has been arrested four times for domestic battery since 2011. She’s also faced charges of aggravated stalking, violating domestic violence injunctions and even a previous grand theft auto charge.
