Wrong-Way Driver Dies, One Injured in Head-On Collision

Inverness (Citrus) – The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting the death of a 76-year-old Dunnellon man, after a head-on collision occurred on SR-44, east of Kensington Ave.

According to officials, just before midnight Saturday night,  the unidentified driver of a 2001 Nissan X-Terra was traveling eastbound in the inside westbound lane, when a second vehicle traveling in the same lane but correct direction of travel collided head-on with the wrong-way driver.

The driver of the second vehicle, 44-year-old Carlos Marin Colon sustained serious injuries and was transported to Ocala Regional Hospital for treatment. The elderly driver sustained fatal injuries and expired at the scene.

  • Prayers to the elderly man’s family but also please pray for the other man who is fighting for his life. He was on his way home from work he broke most of his bones has internal bleeding brain injury.He has a wife and three kids. They’ve had to revive him multiple times so in Jesus name I pray please protect my best friend and her family.
