Air Unit Aids in Capture of Agg. Battery Suspect - Woman Severely Beaten

SPRING HILL – Late Saturday evening, deputies received information that an Aggravated Battery occurred at an address on Lowell Ave. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, Brittany White, who claimed that her boyfriend accused her of cheating and proceeded to beat her.

Brittany says she was doing laundry inside the home, when 32-year-old Stephen Joseph Fisher began punching her and then slammed her face into a bathroom sink. White attempted to call 911 with her cellphone, but Fisher grabbed it out of her hand and smashed it on the ground. Fisher then proceeded to push White to the ground, where he continued to kick and punch her.

It’s not clear how law enforcement was notified of the incident but within minutes of the call, numerous deputies swarmed the area and established a perimeter. A K-9 unit began tracking in a dry retention pond, where they believed the suspect may be hiding among trees and brush. With time running out on a successful track, deputies called for the Air Unit to pass over the area – hoping to locate the suspect with the Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR), a thermal imaging device that picks up heat signatures at night.

It didn’t take long after the Air Unit arrived on scene, before they detected something in the back yard of a nearby residence. Deputies quickly moved in and arrested Fisher without further incident.

Fisher is charged with Aggravated Battery and Tampering with a Witness – he remains behind bars at this time, held on a $20,000 bond.

Fire Rescue responded to the scene and treated White a laceration over the left eye and severe bruising to the face.
