BROOKSVILLE – A babysitter is behind bars today, after officials say she abused one of three children inside a neighbor’s apartment.
According to reports, Brooksville Police responded to Oak Park Apartments Tuesday, after a woman discovered injuries on her 4-year-old son’s neck, back, and face.
Officers interviewed the babysitter, 48-year-old Dionne Shanett Wright who admitted to grabbing the boy by his neck and striking him numerous times on the back with a belt. Wright says she also punched the child in the face because he refused to obey her.
Wright says she is sorry for beating him.
Wright was taken into custody and charged with one count of child cruelly. She remains behind bars at the Hernando County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

It amazes me how anyone can beat an innocent child and get a bond. However, 2 adults can get into an argument and don’t even get a bond. Just goes to show you. I guess its ok to beat a child but lord have mercy don’t touch that adult! So backwards!!!! SMH

Never ceases to amaze the backwardness of our failing judicial system. Embarrassment when a child molester is arrested and goes home on a $5000 bond , and self confessed child abuser gets a $1000 bond . Yet a war on drugs will land you in prison for life. Something is wrong here.

A four year old child is beaten and it matters not where that child lives or who his parents are. What matters is an innocent, little child was beaten by an adult entrusted with their care.
A good measure of a society is, is how the most vulnerable are treated. When child neglect and or abuse is ignored or somehow discounted because of race, social or economic reasons, life overall in that community, is devalued.
Adults have choices — Some make good choices, others make bad choices. But it’s their choice.
A baby or young child doesn’t have the power to make choices, but can bear the consequences when adults make bad choices that harm them.

She was arrested today. She wont go to First Appearance until tomorrow morning. At that time the judge reviews the probable cause for the arrest. The judge will either leave the bond at $1000, reduce or increase the bond.
There is a set bond schedule that law enforcement follows on all arrests.
She’s got to get out so she can watch the same ladies kids for the rest of the summer…don’t ya know!

Wtf she could have killed that kid. I pray the kid does not have lasting memories of this beating it will forever change him. I feel its the parents fault to eager to drop her kids off to go an do what ?? You are suppise to ask questions before.leaving your child with someone ..this lady probably.
