Chaotic Incident at NCT Leads to Urgent Response by Deputies - UPDATE

BROOKSVILLE – There aren’t many details at this time but just before 11:00 a.m. this morning, several deputies responded to Nature Coast Technical High School, after a frantic call from a law enforcement officer at the school.

Officials say the scene is still active and cannot provide many details at this time.

There are unconfirmed reports that a subject was out of control inside the school and a Deputy was attempting to subdue him.

RNRF arrived on the scene just as several deputies were escorting the subject out of the school and towards a patrol car.

Sheriff Al Nienhuis was seen running ahead of the group but it is unknown if he was directly involved in the incident.

We have not been able to reach a representative with Hernando County Schools for comment.

UPDATE: 5/29/2015, 2:10 P.M. - According to a Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson, the incident involved a 14-year-old while male student, who was attempting to leave the campus. Officials say the boy made several statements that he wanted to harm himself. Due to the boys very large stature, multiple units to respond to detain him.

Sheriff Nienhuis was in his vehicle and responded as back-up.
