Domestic Dispute Leads to Intentional Residential Fire - Suspect at Large

BROOKSVILLE – Authorities are currently searching for an arson suspect, wanted in connection with a residential fire that destroyed a home on Whitman Road Monday.

According information received from Hernando County Fire Rescue, Deputies responded to 22364 Whitman Road, around 2:20 p.m., after reports of a domestic disturbance at the residence. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered the wood frame home fully engulfed in flames, and immediately contacted Fire Rescue.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire but two occupants, a mother and daughter, were displaced and required the assistance of the Red Cross.

The case is still active and the suspect is still at large, says Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson, Denise Moloney.

Officials are not releasing the identities of the suspect or victims.

The State Fire Marshal has declined to comment at this time.
