Hundreds Attend ALS Golf Tournament in Memory of James Santella
BROOKSVILLE – Under blue skies and ideal temperatures, the Third Annual James Santella Memorial Golf Tournament drew large crowds to the Hernando Oaks Golf and Country Club, Saturday. A stark difference from last year’s cold and rainy event – but that didn’t stop dozens who attended, to honor beloved firefighter James Santella.
James Santella was just 37-year-old when he passed away in February of 2012; just 18-months after doctors diagnosed him with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
James mother, Jeannie Moore, started the foundation after her son’s death, hoping to raise awareness to the devastating disease, and help families and those diagnosed with ALS, to cope with the effects.
