BROOKSVILLE – Tense moments for witnesses of a rollover crash this afternoon, after the driver crawled out of the overturned vehicle and brandished a firearm.
RNRF arrived on the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement and began videotaping the scene. The damaged vehicle was located on its roof at the southeast corner of Aerial Way and Aviation Loop Drive, while the driver sat at the base of a concrete Target and Kohl’s sign, talking with witnesses.
Moments before deputies arrived, the driver stood up, walked around the sign, and then continued walking into a wood line behind the department stores.
Deputies surrounded the area, began walking towards the driver, drew their weapons, and demanded that he lay on the ground. Deputies removed a black handgun and placed the driver in handcuffs.
We spoke to one witness who said the driver is a co-worker at Micro-Matic, a beer tap manufacturer located inside the airport industrial park.
The driver could be overheard saying that he had a concealed weapons permit but there was speculation that he did not have a valid driver’s license. That information has not been confirmed by officials.
At this time it is not known if the driver will face charges.
The cause of the accident is also unknown.
We will bring more on this story as it develops.

I can’t believe all the rollovers that occur here, It’s crazy.
Maybe he has a hidden keg at work
Another loser in the area
Why didn’t he run into Target and hide in the women’s bathroom?
Tom if you keep responding to these scenes and arriving before law enforcement you might just put yourself in harms way with all these weirdos out there
Was he just getti g his gun put of the car or banishing it?
seriously was this another single vehicle roll over ? drivers around here. yikes. hey tom you should see the video i have of the black suv driving all over the road and almost side swiping me running me off the road. Luckily they had their phone number posted on the back of the suv with a custom license plate all for hcso and fhp to help identify… Been here for decades and every year it only gets more dangerous to drive on these roads.
The right way to do it is wait for the police next to or near your vehicle. Let the police know you have a concealed weapon in location x and a Concealed Weapons License when they arrive. Put your hands out where they can be easily seen by the police and let them search you. If you don’t have anything to hide you’ll be ok. This fool had something to hide.
In the third pic theres no gun showing. Then the insert and forth one it looks like the cops throwing it unto the ground. Whats up with those photos ?
YES, racing that HIGH performance saturn again! are ya…
He has a licence to carry..but not to drive…hernando county…the roll over capital…lol..I know it’s TRUMPS fault…lol..
Ofcourse Tom making it out to be a criminal already cause he has a gun. What a reporter does for views. Pathetic. He has a concealed carry permit.
We quoted him saying that he had a permit. We also said it was unknown if he would be charged.
Prior to our arrival witnesses said he was taking the firearm in and out of his waistband. This is why deputies rushed to the scene and detained him.
It also seemed very suspicious that he walked into the woods instead of remaining at the scene of the crash.
So no, we did not make him appear to be a criminal, his actions at the scene created that appearance.
