Massive Evidence Search Underway Inside Silverthorn Country Club
BROOKSVILLE – Residents of Silverthorn Country Club have nothing to worry about this afternoon, despite the massive law enforcement presence in and around the gated community.
According to officials, detectives are still searching for the hammer used to bludgeon Samantha and Kathleen Perkins at their Middle Fairway Home on Tuesday.
Authorities are asking that anyone who notices anything suspicious around their property to contact authorities immediately and not to handle the evidence.

If it were your family that were the victims of this crime, I think you’d appreciate their extensive search for evidence that would ensure that this guy remains incarcerated for a long time!

These guys truly are the Keystone Cops of Hernando County. It took them two days to find the guy’s head and it was in the car the whole time. I don’t think there’s a chance of finding the hammer even if it is still in the Suspect’s hand. They probably forgot to look there.

Wow ever stop to think that maybe the helicopter was looking for the weapon on the roofs of the houses?Because it would take more man power to go with a ladder from house to house along his escape route. I am a volunteer trained in grid searches I worked this scene all day sorry if 20 minutes minutes was taken to fuel the 2nd part of the search, I know NONE of you eat lunch right? RNRF was there for 5 minutes.

Dad… For you information most of those out there today were trained grid search VOLUNTEERS, Chick-fil-A DONATED the food and most of the resources you see in these pictures were bought using grants because this county has a VOLUNTEER disaster relief team. Your bitching now but when your house is torn down by a natural disaster you’ll be the first in line for shade from that tent, water and what ever else you need. FYI if that was your family members you would want the weapon found so the scum who did it could rot in jail! I don’t work for the sheriff but I am well trained to help them and the fire dept. I give a thumbs up to the sheriff’s office for searching and doing everything possible to find the weapon. Officers are under paid and frankly I do not believe not one of you can do their job any better. This evidence is necessary. Otherwise, the suspect might say the victims injured themselves in a trip-and-fall. Worse excuses are on record. It would be useful to learn how to become a trained grid-search volunteer.

To badger and insult the Sheriff dept. employees is beyond inappropriate. Everyone is entitled to a lunch and I quite frankly trust the way this Sheriff is handling the investigation and running his department. Kudos to the Sheriff!
As for resources being placed in the community to handle this situation, I would just add that we do pay more in taxes then people in Spring Hill. Not only do we pay to maintain your roads which granted we all use we also pay for our private roads. We pay to fund your public tennis courts which we here in Silverthorn have no need for, your soccer fields which we have no need for. That said resources should be utilized to keep this community safe, we pay more then our fair share of the tax base.
As for “Proud veteran”, this is still an affluent community and I’d rather live here then Spring Hill. Sounds like you might be a bit jealous since you probably cannot afford to live here. Once we get a new board and management it will be a great community.

Silverthorn resident, not to be sarcastic, but isn’t silverthorn in Spring Hill? Also, whether I could afford to live there or not, I wouldn,t only because of too many rules and yes, higher taxes. I like living in Spring Hill, in a home that has no HOH fees, etc. I will agree with you on your comment about the HCSO. Most people seem to forget what these deputies do outside of this incident. They are keeping everyone as safe as possible. It is not an easy job being in Law Enforcement. Those making joke of this I ask, what do you have against them that many of you would be so demeaning? What would you do if a situation arose where you would need their assistance? Reading many of these remarks only shows how narrow minded and immature many of you are. Yea, I will make remarks on RNRF, but you will never see me make any derogatory remarks against our Law Enforcement Officers or Tom Lemons for that matter. He calls it as he is given the information. I notice the same people making rude ignorant comments on every single article, criticizing everyone, passing judgement on all involved, correcting grammar, tearing others down and apart despite not knowing all the facts on things and it makes me sad! Who would I be able to talk to in reference to some deputies both patrol and corrections that are involved in illegal activities as far as drugs being smuggled into the Hernando County Jail I have made contact with internal affairs but honestly I do not feel safe.
