Violence Inside Chocachatti Elementary - Possibly Same Student from Bus Incident
BROOKSVILLE – Last Wednesday, RNRF broke the news of a terrifying incident that led to 5-students being battered and abused on-board a Hernando County School Bus. ORIGINAL REPORT
To this day, School Officials have refused to answer questions regarding the case, despite documents that were leaked to RNRF, revealing specific details of the violent incident.
Thanks to a tip received from the mother of a Chocachatti student, RNRF learned that the same “aggressive” student may have been involved in another violent incident inside the school today.
According to the parent, Deputies were called to Chocachatti Elementary, after the same student called her daughter a “B*tch” and then went into the hallway, where he attacked a teacher. Minutes after that incident, the female student claims the boy grabbed a pencil and held it to another student’s neck, while threatening to stab him.
We contacted the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, to confirm, if in fact deputies respond to the school; however, they were unable to provide any information at this time.
Hernando County School Board Spokesperson, Karen Jordan, sent over the following response to our request for information, regarding the incident: “Following an outburst at school this afternoon, the 5th grade student from Chocachatti has been disciplined in accordance with the district Student’s Code of Conduct.”
We asked Jordan if she would confirm that the 5th grade student was the same student involved in last month’s incident. She responded with the following Federal Statute: The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
We reminded Jordan that we were not asking for the student’s name or education records, but she did not respond further.
We will continue to follow this story and others involving violence in Hernando County Schools.

Story on the bus incident to be carried on WTSP at 11PM tonight.
She just doesn’t wanna get sued by an angry parent over confidentiality laws. Sounds like this brat needs 3 mos sleeping on the hard cold floor in JDC…
You have got to be joking! What did my comment v say after the bus incident? It basically had two points… First of all, that Hernando County schools have been a joke since I went almost 20 yrs ago, my first day I was stabbed in the leg with a pencil although like many teenagers in a new place, I didn’t report it, just wished I hadn’t ended up in a lawless school district. My second point was that problem kids must be separate from normal, non violent kids. Pathetic, absolutely ridiculous, and again, they might not do anything.
IF it is the same child, someone needs to do something before someone gets hurt bad, yes I have compassion for disabled, however, other lives are at stake glad my children are grown, This is not good situation for anyone and if it’s a differnt child, choices should have consequences ..
Lots of typos, sorry to the typo police lol
Why is turning out to be a cover up as parents we to know so we can protect our children if this happens to my child she has the right to protect herself
This child needs some serious intervention, along with the family.
If its the same student from the bus. I bet the father just blamed it on a diagnosis he knows nothing about to get him out of it. This sounds like a kid brought up wrong acting out in violence that is uncalled for. A teacher got hurt this time so they gave stricker rules and probably expelled him out of all Hernando schools.
There are children who do not belong in society due to what ever, stop covering up for them and protect the law abiding students…..WAKE UP
Gross Negligence on Hernando County School leaders…Please don’t wait till someone is dead. With the bus incident, how come the Sheriffs dept was not dispatched immediately, what is the secret with what is gong on inside the school?
Obviously we have some seriously disturbed kids in our schools. I am just hoping that these parents dont have easy accessible firearms. Hopefully all parties involved do deep in depth investigations for the safety of the kids. Just yesterday my daughter told me a problem kid was put in her class bc she has the good class and he was taking away from the other classes that already have problems focusing. That her class was told to try to rub off on the student to help him out yet first day he screams at the teacher constantly randomly and was saying really obscene things to the other kids in the class. I remember going to school we had a totally separate program for dysfunctional students now we integrate them in to the classrooms away from trained staff so that we can live in a politically correct society where no one gets any feelings hurt just hurt other kids. Common sense apparently isnt common and logic keeps getting more twisted.
Psychologists use the term ” acting out”. It is obvious the kid is experiencing severe abuse by someone. Where is the department of children and families?
He’s just misunderstood….life in the trailer isn’t all that rosey..
I think if ALL the students, Parents And teachers refused to enter this school tomorrow, it just might get someone’s attention.
We need special Ed for the less functional and alternative education for the brighter ones. The PC bullshit is out of control. If all you kid is ever going to be able to do is lick postage stamps, do he really need to be in French class or trig. Get over it parents and people and go back to the old days or special places for special people. Let them ride the dada bus and problem solved.
They need to do something, why should kids that follow the rules have to suffer from a disruptive student!? The teachers are being left in the dark on this as far as I know.
In a better world, the adult that he attacked in the hall should have been able to yoke him up and drag him down to the front office to be processed and held for his parents. Just because he is MAYBE “special needs”, that does not trump the safety of all the other children.
Its not the Hernando County School Board or HCSO at fault they are just following Federal Statute (FERPA) as stated. The real problem is that the state of Florida no longer has control of its School Districts. We the people need to vote into office a President that believes that control of the schools belongs back to the states. We need less federal statutes as well as less Politically correctness in this great county.
Food for, interesting how you inject yourself into every situation, frankly I don’t believe a word you post!
Forked thats nice of you to give your opinion. Fact is my kids attend school in this county and I have nieces and nephews also so safety is important to me. Also Im very involved in the community. Ive volunteered, worked multiple jobs, had multiple businesses, and my family and I have a variety of properties in Hernando county. Over the long time of being here Ive gotten to know many people. Unless you are confined to your house youve probably met me many times if you live in this county. Ive worked bars restaurants, grocery stores, drove limos, went to school for c/o crossover to leo worked in pasco for years, went to school for healthcare now I work at a hospital. Im very involved in our community on many levels. The chances I might know about an incident that occurs will happen. I keep busy but feel special I made time to say hi.
Time to bring back Reformed Schools. These brats, no matter what the age, don’t belong in the schools we taxpayers pay for. Enough of mollycoddling these animals. Send them to a school where they will be taught respect as well as book learning. Make their parents, not the taxpayers, pay for it, too.
I HATE the fact that I got a call after 5pm to tell me that my daughters school was on lock down but that it was handled. They need to let us know way before after hours.
So very glad we homeschool.
And full of yourself too!
He is in my class and always calls us girls different names and he calls us by our color so if someone is white to him they are white chocolate and he also chases after people trying to give them hugs when they say no and if they say no he says hold them down and tries to give them a hug it has happened to me before
