Bears stun Eagles on last second heroics

Albon Jones blocked Parker Knight’s 40-yard field goal attempt, scooping up the loose ball and taking it all the way for the score as time expired, helping Central beat Springstead by a score of 13-7, Friday night.

The Bears (1-0, 0-0 5A-7), got on the board first behind a De’Vonta Smith 32-yard touchdown run. The Junior running back paced the Central offense tallying 161 yards and that score on 26 carries.

The Eagles (0-1, 0-0 6A-6) looked much improved from the team that dropped two exhibition contests, but still were unable to come away with a victory. The Springstead offense was only able to muster 61 yards on 36 carries, but quarterback Jordan Wright finished 13-of-16 through the air for 169 yards and a touchdown.
