SPRING HILL – Yesterday RNRF reported a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Harrow Road and Elk Lane that claimed the life of the driver, after she collided with a residence at the intersection. ORIGINAL REPORT
The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the victim as 22-year-old Kristen Dawkins of Spring Hill.
Officials say Dawkins was driving her 2008 Nissan Altima southbound on Harrow Road, when she failed to stop at the intersection of Norbert Street. The undercarriage of Dawkins vehicle struck the roadway, causing the car to go airborne, rotate, strike a palm tree at 3205 Harrow Road, and then come to rest against the garage of 3197 Harrow Road.
Dawkins was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol has not been ruled out as a factor, according to reports.
Dawkins died at the scene from her injuries sustained in the crash.

In order to bottom out and go airborne, she was hauling a$$. Trying to get home early in the morning, and yes, there is plenty of room for her to get going at a high rate of speed. Norbert is a half a mile from Forest Oaks Blvd.

Nobody deserves to die. This girl was one of the best people I’ve met. She took care of so many people and did way more for everybody around her than she ever did for herself. Kristen was an absolutely amazing person and to say that she deserved to die because alcohol wasnt ruled out as a factor (which doesnt mean she was drunk, it simply means they don’t know if she was or not), or she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt? So she deserves to DIE because she wasn’t wearing a SEATBELT? something that only affects HER safety. NOBODY elses.
Keep your ignorant comments to yourself, things like this are the very last thing we want to see when we see a report about one of our loved ones dying.

Who in the world is drunk at 7 a.m.?? Regardless, if she wasn’t drunk which I’m not prepared to say that she was. This crash was caused by a high rate of speed, could have been combined with a distraction of some sort, or she could have even fell asleep. Either way with the way the car impacted the house, I definitely wouldn’t have wanted to be the first person on scene to witness it. Speeding through neighborhoods it absolutely the most brainless thing to do, the potential for a horrendous crash is so large, is it worth the risk? Poor girl, a bad decision or two, caused your demise, good thing you didn’t take anyone else with you.

I so agree with you Naya, SMH and all the other’s whom have compassionate comments. Many people want to see only the cynical possibilities or speculate what happened before the facts are determined. Why people feel the need for that drama I just do not understand. Maybe, they don’t remember being 22, being young speeding and maybe driving home with a drink in them because at 22 you feel immortal and immune. Some of us made it and got the chance to grow older and wiser while others, we’re not so lucky. When your ticket is picked it is your time to go. I wish I could apologize to all of them for having to be subjected to the cruel and heartless comments from the ignorant but, it seems there are just to many of them. Everybody posting rude comments can burn. Kristin was one of the sweetest and kindest people ive ever met. She wasnt afraid of much. And she always stood up for the ones she loved. She was tough. We used to be good friends. I only just found out. And it sucks. Love you kristin.
Still believe that the majority of people are good and mean well. It is usually those who are not happy with their own life that feel the need to judge or make assumptions about others. Like Brittney said maybe, it was just an accident. Accidents are what they are an ACCIDENTS and the happen every day. I was in my yard with my dog when she flew by. I heard the crash. These kids are always in such a rush to go somewhere. They think they’re invincible & that these tragedies happen to other people. It’s a shame she had to lose her life. My kids are her age. I’m always telling them to slow down, be safe. My heart goes out to her family at this difficult time. R.I.P Kristen 🕯
