Bystander’s Brave Actions Thwart Armed Robbery Attempt, Suspect Behind Bars

LECANTO – A would-be armed robbery suspect is behind bars this evening, after an attempted gas station robbery was thwarted by the quick thinking of a brave bystander.

According to officials, 27-year-old Xavier Lockley walked into the CITGO gas station, located at 5511 Homosassa trail, and demanded that the clerk hand over all the money from the register. But when the clerk refused, Lockley lifted his shirt, exposing a firearm and said “do you want to die today?” That’s when 25-year-old Shane Brennan began talking to Lockley, which led to a physical altercation between to the two. Although Brennan fought valiantly, Lockley punched Brennan multiple times in the face and stole Brennan’s wallet, before fleeing the store.

Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene and deployed a K-9 unit to search for the suspect. Within minutes, Lockley was found hiding at a friend’s home near Rock Crusher Rd, where the resident said he was paid $10.00 to “hide him.”

Lockley was taken into custody and charged with Armed Robbery and Battery. Lockley is currently behind bars, held on a $100,500 bond.

Brennan only sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment. His wallet was never recovered.

  1. This menace to society is a peice of garbage! Hope he goes away for a long time….. Too bad he wasn’t taken out by a clerk or someone else because now we have to pay his room , food and medical for the next 15 to 30yrs…..I know if I was in Mr Brennan’s shoes this perp would of met 2 /45 hollow point slugs in 3secs flat!

  2. Maybe he’s buddist and only uses hands ah did you think of that.Good job young man next time no talk smash him with everything you got amd dont stop Bravo sir that take guts.

    1. Don’t worry, Obama will probably have him released because even though he was committing a crime and had a gun he didn’t actually hurt anyone so it will be considered a non violent crime and the AG will back him up all the way.

  3. Thank you Mr. Brennan you most likely stopped this hell-bound thief from shooting someone.
I want to know if they recovered the gun or was it passed off to an accomplice before the Sheriff got there.
Right, does anyone believe the “$10.00 to hide me” drivel?
I’m sure this dude with the bleached out dreads is making his family proud… they should disown him.

  4. note to tax payers. have fun feeding him, paying all his medical bills, and providing a roof over his head, and probably a host of other things.. #bringbackchaingangs

  5. Now if the cops would have arrived during this robbery and shot this loser to death there would have probably been people running wild in the streets shouting black lives matter even though we was committing a crime, Does that make any sense.
