BROOKSVILLE – A horrific two vehicle crash at the intersection of Powell Road and California Street this morning left bystanders fearing the worst, and they certainly didn’t expected the occupants of either vehicle to walk away without serious injuries, or walk away at all.
According to unconfirmed witness accounts, the pickup truck pictured below may have run the red light while traveling north on California Street. The car was traveling eastbound on Powell Road and the two vehicles collided as they crossed the intersection.
The pickup truck came to rest on its side and the car was propelled into a nearby field where it burst into flames, moments after all the occupants escaped the wreckage.
According to officials, the driver of the pickup was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. There are no reports of injuries from any occupant inside the car.
Heavy fog may have been a contributing factor in the cause of the crash.
Bystanders sent in the incredible images below…

For this damage, speed a factor, too fast for the foggy conditions. This is the expectation for drivers in spring hill, go figure.
Just another jack in a big hurry
check the drivers cell activity at time of accident
Glad all are okay, but I swear sooo many out their that don’t know how to drive!! We were just out, going thru light at mariner and northcliff, person in van Beside us, decided wanted to be in our lane. Well came on over and almost crashed into left of our car. OHIO plates, Q-tips?? Would have expected more from someone from Ohio have lots of family down there in the hills. They ALL can drive, Oh that’s right, have respect as well.
The level of all the commentors compassion is mind-blowing. They even state that heavy fog could have played a factor but everybody is so ready to condemn someone always. It’s why they call them “ACCIDENTS”. At least wait until the investigation gives you all the facts.
For that kind of damage, somebody was going to fast. If fog was involved, somebody was going to fast. If you can’t see because of fog, slow down. If you can’t see, there is no reason to being that fast to cause that much damage, end of story/
Tis the season of Q-tips and raisens.
fog doesn’t cause accident…people driving wrong for the conditions did in this one…again!!!
Right on Clyde!!!!
changing the term from accidents to “intentionals”. everyone is out to kill each other with the car
