LAND O’ LAKES (PASCO) – The driver of a heavily damaged compact car is lucky to be alive today, thanks to the brave actions of a Pasco County Deputy and two bystanders.
According to Pasco County Officials, Deputy Anthony Petersen pulled up to the crash scene located on SR-52 near Kent Grove Road around 4:19 a.m. That’s when he realized the vehicle was engulfed in flames and the driver was still trapped inside.
With the assistance of two bystanders, the male driver was pulled from the vehicle and dragged to safety. Officials say the victim only suffered minor injuries that were most likely the result of being extricated.
The two men who helped Deputy Petersen have been identified as Crystian Martinez and Randy Breighner.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating what may have caused the crash.
There were no other injuries reported.
