SPRING HILL – Homeowners inside the Pristine Place gated community say a hasty FedEx Truck Driver left a path of destruction after he tried to rush a residents only entrance gate.
According to witnesses, the driver pictured below tried to enter the community through a private gate located at the intersection of Mansfield Road and Barclay Ave. Neighbors say the driver is supposed to use the main entrance located a short distance away at Minnie Drive and St. Ives Blvd. There is a sign posted at the Mansfield Road entrance that clearly reads “Residents Only” but witnesses say the driver involved in today’s crash ignores the sign, and rushes the private gate all the time.
Fire Rescue treated the driver for minor injuries but he refused to be transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigation the cause of the crash.

Looks like the FedEx driver got “FedUp” and bum-rushed the wrong gate!
I guess there will be a driver’s opening soon :(. Everyone is rushed now a days to get their jobs done and then this happens. Glad no serious injuries.
Smooth move FedEx!! Can’t have nothing nice in this neighborhood.
FedEx will be hiring his replacement.
FedEx Ground services are independent contractors that own specific territories/routes franchised from FedEx. Their drivers work for the contractor not directly for FedEx. Although using the FedEx name they are separate from the FedEx Express model were the parent company owns and operates the sorting centers, trucks, planes etc.
Anyway, Morgan & Morgan are on the way.
“For The People!”
I hope Morgan & Morgan are representing the private owners of the mailbixes & gates not the driver. I won’t use ups because their drivers blast the radio music from their trucks. Had to put in 2 complaints about that with ups & it took over 2 weeks to stop it !!!! Office crew couldn’t even get complaint wording right at ups. I’m glad no one hurt, sorry fed ex driver is overworked ( now probably out of job ). We ALL still need to play by the rules & use common sense & caution when on the roads.
Unbelievable, why do the mailbox owner and gate owner need attorneys? FedEx has insurance and no one was hurt? Stop trying to look for a pay day!
And did you really file 2 complaints about the radio playing? Driver sits in a hot truck all day and you feel compelled to take away one of their joys?
i feel awful for you that you had to hear music coming from a vehicle. i hope youre recovering from the situation.
Another old that knows nothing and is making assumptions without knowing the facts. O forgot he lives in a gated community he knows it all.
I just came home shortly after it happened and wondered what went on. Thank you, Tom, I’m glad to have this report or who knows if we’d ever find out. The “Residents’ Entrance Only” sign needs to be much more conspicuous, although people ignore it, or don’t know how to read. Rushing the gate to get in without a barcode is a problem. Nothing we can really do about it since we don’t have guards at any of the gates. A very foolish maneuver causing damage and embarrassment to FedEx. Glad nobody was hurt, except for the driver’s scratches, could have been a lot worse.
Another issue is that when a driver enters an address on the GPS it automatically directs them to our residences only gate. The board needs to figure out how we can get this changed.
Do you guys have HOA meetings? Maybe you could bring up the fact the the gates are a little to close to the road. I was in the neighborhood today working and almost did the same because the gate is not easily visible if you don’t know it’s there. While I am not defending either party, I just think some changes should be made to avoid this possibility in the future. There is a great amount of space between the first turns once in the gate why not move it farther preventing someone from having been hit by this vehicle should he have been driving even more-so careless. Also move the signs out to the road like 25-30 ft before the gate. Give a heads up kind of deal. Then people are not surprised by the gate. And the last part is obviously not for the driver as he probably took the route often but for visitors. Like servicemen for the cable company..
Job Opening !!
W R O N G
He must have been speeding thats why i use UPS
i know right. that makes total sense. so much logic and critical thinking behind that decision. if you google ups crash your internet would never come up with a single story involving negligent driving..lol
How on the hell do you know how fast he was going. Please tell Crazy b.
Guess who is looking for a job tomorrow ? Glad no one was hurt !! These guys are rushed, I do understand that, but safety first. Follow the rules
Pretty sure thats the same A-hole that yells out the door cursing to move out his way on a regular basis in timber pines…dumb see you at mcdonalds when i stop to use the restroom
Use a drifferent bathroom. Try the one at your house. Toilet paper is free
I usually don’t say anything on these, but, I will say there is horrible placement of the “private road residents only” signs. I work for company doing in home service work. While I will say today was my first adventure in this neighborhood, I began to pull into the same road right after the sheriff officer, who was last in the line, but as soon as I kicked the wheel to turn onto that road just then saw the sign that is mounted roughly 15-20feet in, the sign is posted really close to the gate. Now while it was my first time in the neighborhood others may argue that the driver has been many times and knew of the signs existence. He might not have been able to correct any other way. This whole thing may be due to him being a careless driver and not caring. But if this was his first time in the area, I’m sure all of us would have lost control. You are unable to see the sign or the gates complete distance from the main road as there is a wall that covers visibility of the gate even from the truck based Ford Transit 150. Even in the van I drive I have more blind spots then most every other van as I have my driver and passenger window, and the very back windows. We cannot see what’s around us as you in a regular vehicle with windows 360*. Now I am not defending the driver as I do not know anything about him but I can say that I know the area more then most on possibly. But there could have been improvements on both sides. The driver and the community.
any update in firefighter investigation there was comments that updates would be written
When the case is closed we will update the story.
It’s funny how the residents of Pristine Place think that they are secure. Anyone cab hop the 4 ft chain link fencing or just walk through the yards of the houses on the street just outside the gate..Can;t remember the name but not Barclay.
