Growth Management - Have Your Say Before Time Runs Out (Survey Link Added!)

Now is the time to voice your opinion on Hernando County growth management issues. An on-line public opinion survey that was launched in January will end on March 31, 2011. The survey is part of the Comprehensive Plan Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR) process. The purpose of the EAR process is to evaluate the performance of the County’s Comprehensive Growth Management Plan and to update the plan where needed. The County has completed five public workshops and is now engaged in formulating EAR recommendations. This is a crucial time for public officials and staff to hear from County residents and visitors. The EAR survey is the easiest way for the public to participate.

The EAR Survey takes less than 15 minutes to complete and asks very specific questions about Hernando County’s future. “We’ve had about 400 responses to date but that’s still less than one percent of our County’s adult population,” said Pat McNeese, Hernando County’s EAR Planner, “The survey is an effective way for people to voice their opinions. It also provides a good snapshot of specific growth issues that were discussed at the workshops.”

To take the survey, simply open Hernando County web site’s home page at www.hernandocounty.us and select “Take Our EAR Survey.” (Direct link is http://www.hernandocounty.us/survey/TakeSurvey.asp?SurveyID=3J16536L2mm3G .)

Survey results will be presented at future Planning and Zoning Commission meetings on the EAR. The meetings will be held monthly through the end of the EAR process in August 2011. For more information contact Pat McNeese at the Hernando County Planning Department (352-754-4057) or explore the EAR web page at www.hernandocounty.us/plan/EAR . The survey will be available through March 31, 2011.
