The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, along with Probation and Parole, will be conducting checks and monitoring sexual offenders and predators from 12:00 pm until 11:00 pm on Halloween. Both agencies want to ensure all sexual offenders and predators are not participating in Halloween activities that would attract children to their homes. Deputies will be utilizing both marked and unmarked patrol vehicles to conduct these checks.
“Every Halloween should be filled with positive memories,” said Sheriff Al Nienhuis. “I encourage every parent to accompany their children while they enjoy the trick-or-treating tradition. If your children are older please, encourage them to travel in groups, know where they will be trick-or-treating, and have them carry a cell phone in the event of an emergency. We don’t want our youngest citizens to experience any real horrors this Halloween weekend.”
