HOMOSASSA - A Homosassa man is behind bars today, after he called 911 to report that he was being stalked by people who wanted to kill him.

Arrest Reports show that Thomas Hanley, 23, called the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office early Monday morning, claiming that he was hiding in a shed at his home on West Homosassa Trail, armed with a machete. A delusional Hanley told dispatchers that said people were coming into his yard to kill him.

Deputy Heather Cogar responded to the scene and made contact with Hanley who appeared nervous and shaky. When asked, Hanley denied being under the influence of drugs.

A search of the property revealed that there were no trespassers looking to kill Hanley. Hanley insisted that deputies search the shed where he was originally hiding to make sure there were no enemies in waiting. Again, deputies found no sign of intruders; however, they did located Hanley’s employee name tag, a rolled up dollar bill, and a baggie of methamphetamine.

During an interview, Hanley admitted to purchasing the meth earlier that day and was subsequently charged with possession. Bond is set at $3000.00.

    1. How about getting them some treatment and hanging the dealers that are selling them the crap instead?

Until they do something about the people dealing there will be a steady stream of users.

    2. Hang em? What centery are you from you ignorant pos. No you dont hang them. You try and get them help. People like you are part of the problem we have in America.

  1. See stories like these make me sad…..he didn’t hurt anyone and no one got hurt. These are the times where people like this should be checked into centers where they can get help for their drug addiction problem instead of just thrown in prison. Throwing them in jail, giving them fines, the permanent record, they are just gonna come out of jail worse off and repeat the process go down the same path instead of being reintroduced as a product member of society. Arrest the people who sell the drugs that keep praying on the people who are addicted.

  2. The hang um and shoot um mentality is just about as sick as the addict. I have a son serving time for stealing to get Meth. He comes from a good upper-middle class family who loved him and spent each day of our lives trying to give him a great life and a great future. He got wrapped up in the wrong older crowd and we squirmed helplessly to help him. It nearly destroyed him and our family. A life I never knew a thing about just as obviously so many people have been fortunate enough not to know. Hopefully, now my son realizes that all these imaginary people and monsters trying to kill him were all an illusion of the drugs. That is exactly what happened to my child. He now tells me exactly where he was at that time and how it grabbed a hold of him and he couldn’t break free. This young man in this report is ill and he is somebody’s son. Somebody loves him and is most likely in great pain and suffering because of his addiction. Some people aren’t as mentally strong as others and get wrapped in a web they can not break free from. They need help and they need support. Until, someone you love becomes addicted to the almighty Meth, please do not judge because I can promise you your little white picket fence and your perfect little “Leave it to Beaver” family can be broken down and torn to pieces at any time and I am sure none of you would appreciate the rude and insensitive comments toward your child or family member. Shoot um and kill um? Those ignorant, rude comments are basically cowardly comments! Maybe, a catalyst to the exact problems we are trying to solve in this country. For me…I will pray for this young man, his loved ones and every other family faced with this affliction. It is now an epidemic and is taking the lives of good people and their families. I will pray for those with hard hearts alike. Just a snap shot from the other side and something to think about.

  3. My prayers to you, your family and your son.
I’ve been on both sides of that fence so I know the battle very well. Its a long rough road for everyone involved. Hope your son comes out on the winning end of the game.
