Man Attacked with Axe Attempting to Stop Domestic Dispute, Suspect in Custody

SPRING HILL – Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a violent incident, where sources say a man battered a woman and then attacked a witness with an axe.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 13416 Brighton Street around 8:00 p.m., where there are unconfirmed reports that a man tried to intervene in a domestic dispute and was struck by the suspect with an axe.

According to sources, the alleged good Samaritan witnessed the suspect dragging the female victim by the hair and that’s when he tried to step in and stop the attack. Fire Rescue responded to the scene but the victim refused to be transported to the hospital for treatment. The female victim fled to a shopping plaza at the intersection of Mariner Blvd and Spring Hill Drive, where she met with deputies.

The suspect fled the area in a blue SUV but was quickly located by deputies at the intersection of Amero Lane and Carlton Street. The suspect was detained and may face charges of aggravated assault and domestic battery.
