INVERNESS (CITRUS) – A confrontation outside a local convenience store left one man with a gunshot wound and another claiming self-defense.
According to officials, just shortly after midnight on Sunday deputies responded to the Circle K located at 1224 N. US-41 after reports of a shooting.
Officials say a man and his wife were outside the store when 33-year-old Chase Mcclain approached them and a physical altercation ensued. During the altercation Mcclain was shot and fled the area in his vehicle. The suspect crashed a short distance away on Hwy-44 and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment.
At this time Investigators believe the shooting was justified and have turned the case over to the State Attorneys Office for review. No arrest have been made at this time
RNRF spoke with the shooter, 49-year-old Bryan Sharp Sr, who says “The man knocked me into the Redbox machine and started yelling obscenities at me.” Sharp says he told the man that he didn’t want any trouble and showed him his concealed firearm, but the suspect continued his attack. “I feared for mine and my wife’s life,” says Sharp, “This guy just wouldn’t stop.” Sharp fired one shot and the Mcclain fled.
Officials say the incident remains under investigation.

I had a case not to long ago , this punk was smoking a cigarette while he was pumping gas leaning over if the ash would of dropped it would of been in the fuel, so I said hey is that cigarette lit he said yeah it is what about it . I said I have my son in tbe car mother fukr, and I quickly jumped in my truck moved it over to the far side of the store and went inside and told the manager by then he’d already pumped his gas and was gone I don’t think he pumped his gas I think he just left. What sucks is there’s no cameras anywhere in these gas stations if they are they are not on. The funny thing I had my stun gun on me was ready to use it but I thought I can’t discharge this thing when he’s standing right there next to that fuel
