ORLANDO – A massive manhunt is underway for a suspect who shot and killed an Orlando Police Officer this morning.
According to officials, Master Sgt. Debra Clayton was shot by 41-year-old Markeith Loyd at the Wal-Mart located at 3101 West Princeton Street and later died at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Markeith shot at second Police Officer, striking his vehicle before carjacking a vehicle and fleeing the scene. The vehicle was later found abandoned near Rosemond and Cinderlane Parkway.
A 35-year-old Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy also died this morning, after a van collided with his motorcycle while he was assisting with the manhunt.
Markeith was being sought for the December killing of his pregnant ex-girlfriend.
Markeith is still at large and considered armed and dangerous.
Due to the close proximity to the Orlando area, surrounding agencies, including Hernando County law enforcement are on alert.
