Officials Say the County-Wide Burn Ban Has Been Lifted

HERNANDO – According to officials with Hernando County Fire Rescue, the county-wide burn ban has been officially lifted, effective immediately.

According to spokesperson Alex Lopez, Deputy Chief Kevin Carroll consulted with Florida Forestry Services and determined that based on recent rains the Keetch Byram Drought Index (KBDI) has improved.

Officials still remind residents to be mindful of outdoor burning and adhere to state burning regulations.

  1. People tend to think they know better than the authorities…I think they should have waited a bit longer. I see trouble on the horizon.
