Several Homes and Vehicles Damaged after Strong Storms Move Through the Area, Possible Tornado

SPRING HILL – Downed trees, power lines, and flooded streets plague the area this evening, after strong thunderstorms brought heavy rains, strong winds, and even a possible tornado.

Fire Rescue is on the scene of several downed trees and power lines in the area of Larkin Road and Alloway Ave, where witnesses say a possible tornado struck the area. Trees damaged several roof tops at least one vehicle, and there are unconfirmed reports that a woman may have been injured after she was struck by a tree branch.

Stewart Weaver sent several images of damage caused by what he says was a tornado in the area of Larkin Road and Gatewood Ave.

According to the WREC, there are close to 5,000 people without power at this time.

  1. We heard the whirling sound and we headed inside. Large tree branch snapped in neighbor’s yard. When you hear that sound..it’s no joke!

    to me
Yep, that area is where is looked like some straightline winds came down as the storm collapsed. With the damage you are describing, I would guess 55-65mph winds. Winds aloft are only 20-25 kts, but the storm could have caused much higher winds.
