BROOKSVILLE – A local business man shocked family, friends and customers, after officials say he sexually battered a child between the ages of 12 and 17 years of age for over a year.
RNRF first learned of the investigations late Saturday evening, when we received information that detectives were preparing to arrest the suspect in the parking lot of Walmart on Cortez Blvd.
As I prepared to shoot video of the takedown a Sheriff’s Office Helicopter relayed the suspect’s position to awaiting deputies.
I watched as the suspect’s vehicle, a grey Dodge Challenger, drove through the parking lot and made its way to the parking spot adjacent to where I was sitting my vehicle.
The suspect lowered his window, revealing his identity as that of Ryan Schrader, owner of Mariner Automotive Repair on Mariner Blvd.
I sat in total shock as Schrader said “hello.” I responded by stuttering his name, “Ryan?!” He looked at me and stated “They are here for me aren’t they?” At that moment Schrader sped away and headed eastbound on Cortez Blvd.
Several deputies followed Schrader to the Sunoco Gas Station at Barclay Ave, where they conducted a felony traffic stop. Deputies deployed spike strips behind Schrader’s vehicle as a precaution and then placed him into custody without further incident.
RNRF received a heavily redacted official report today that described the horrific details of his alleged crimes.
The only information we are revealing at this time is that the victim is known to Schrader, that the charges are custodial in nature, and that both vaginal and oral sex occurred since January of 2015.
Schrader was booked into the Hernando County Jail on 10-counts of Sexual Battery with a minor. He is currently free on a $50,000 bond, can have no contact with minors, and must wear a GPS monitoring device.

Two things. 1. I am a survivor, having been molested by an uncle at a young age. I pray for the child (if there was one involved). 2. Tony, you are partially right. I considered Ryan a Friend. However, I never visited his home or mingled other than if he was doing work on my vehicle. That was the extent of our interaction. I did think Ryan was a great guy and I am hopeful that the charges are not true, however, if the charges are true - then let the justice system due its job.
Regarding the night of the arrest; I had absolutely NO idea that Ryan was the suspect and to suggest that I did is libelous at the very least.

damn ryan was a super good friend all through out high school. Ive got some funny stories. We even worked out at the gym together at golds for a while. He was always my voice of reason. We havent really spoken in a few years. Im really shocked to see this. He was always a very kind, funny, and considerate person that would go out of his way for you.
