Springstead at Hernando Leads Week 2 Shortened Schedule

With Hurricane Hermine bearing down on the West Coast of Florida the last few days, athletic directors and coaches had to make decisions to postpone or cancel games outright in the interest of player safety. We hope that those impacted by the storm are safe and whatever damage that is done in minimal.

Hernando County still has games on the agenda, although they will be slightly delayed from their original kickoff times. Joining me as always is Derek J. LaRiviere, and we will be breaking down the shortened week two slate!

Game of the Week: Springstead (1-0) at Hernando (1-0) Saturday, 6 P.M.

Aiello Jr: Springstead, 27-14

LaRiviere: Springstead, 35-13

Derek’s Breakdown: After laying an egg against Hudson in the preseason, Springstead bounced back with another offensive outburst against rival Central last week. Putting up 40-plus points in five of the past six games, the Eagles seem to be clicking with Jordan Wright under center. It’s hard to believe that the Leopards will be able to slow Springstead’s offense down. Demetrius Barry was stellar on both sides of the ball last week, and if he can stay healthy, not much will be able to stop the Eagles.

Danny’s Breakdown: Hernando looked sharp behind the legs of David Hale Bronson and a strong defensive effort. However, Springstead is a different animal with Jordan Wright leading the offense. Behind a strong game from Wright and another good effort from Demetrius Barry on both sides of the ball, the Eagles should be able to knock off a very game Leopard team.
