Three More Arrested for False Ownership Claims in Pawn Transactions…

Jail records this week suggest that Hernando sheriff’s detectives have been active lately in monitoring pawn transactions.  There were three more arrests Wednesday, following two on Tuesday, for providing false ownership information when pawning various items.
Details were provided by the sheriff’s office in only one of the latest cases, the arrest of Larry Van Bates V, 47, of Zagnut Lane in Brooksville.  An arrest affidavit says Bates was jailed on eleven counts of defrauding a pawn broker for claiming ownership of items reportedly taken without permission from his father.  Jail records said Bates was also charged with violation of probation on two felony convictions from Lake County for transmitting material harmful to minors by electronic device.

According to jail records, deputies also arrested Caroline Rose Logsted, 22, of Godfrey Ave. in SPring Hill Wednesday on two counts of defrauding a pawn broker and one each for grand theft and dealing in stolen property.

The third Wednesday arrest for giving false information to a pawn broker involved Joseph Eric Cunningham, 24, of Joyner Ave. in Spring Hill.  Jail records said he was arrested by sheriff’s deputies and faces nine counts of defrauding a pawn broker.
