Woman Suffers Smoke Inhalation in House Fire, Dog Rescued by Firefighters

SPRING HILL – A woman is in stable condition this morning after suffering smoke inhalation due to a fire inside her home on Little Farms Drive.

According to reports, firefighters responded to 13055 Little Farms Drive around 6:30 last night, after the occupants reported a fire in a back bedroom. Due to the quick response, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to other areas of the house.

Prior to their arrival, a woman entered the home several times, in an attempt to retrieve possessions and locate the family dog. As a result, the woman suffered minor smoke inhalation and was transported to Bayfront Spring Hill Hospital for treatment.

During a search of the residence, firefighters located the dog and provided oxygen therapy with one of the specialized oxygen masks (Related Article). The dog is expected to do well, according to fire officials.

The State Fire Marshal was called to investigate the cause of the fire, which was not immediately apparent to firefighters.

HCFR Spokesperson, Alex Lopez, reminds residents to evacuate immediately and let firefighters enter the structure for search and rescue efforts.

  1. Tom you failed to mention that the dog rescued was a parent of 10 / 3 week old beautiful puppies that were also rescued from the home. Guess who you interviewed didn’t have all the correct details.
