UPDATE: 8/20/2018, 12:05 P.M. – According to preliminary information provided by the Florida Highway Patrol, Elvin Michael Benitez, 30, of Zephyrhills and two children were traveling westbound on CR-54, west of Chantel Drive, when he lost control of his Mazda 6 and entered the eastbound lanes. Dennis George Wilkes, 38, of Lakeland was traveling eastbound with passenger, Christina Farmer, 27, of Winter Haven. Both vehicles collided head-on, killing Wilkes and Farmer. Benitez was ejected from the vehicle and also died at the scene. Benitez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Both children, John Arel, 11, and Jasmine Benitez, 6, suffered serious injuries and were transported to separate trauma centers for treatment.
UPDATE: 8:21 P.M. – Officials with the Florida Highway Patrol say a two vehicle crash occurred on County Road 54, west of Berry Road around 7:08 p.m. There are three confirmed fatalities, as well as serious injuries to other passengers. Motorists should avoid the area. FHP Troopers continue to investigate the incident; additional details will be forthcoming.
ZEPHYRHILLS – Pasco County Fire Rescue is on the scene of a fatal crash at the intersection of SR-54 and Berry Road.
UPDATE: 5:07 P.M. – Officials say the victim the victim was trimming trees in a bucket truck when he came in contact with the power lines. The patient is conscious and breathing.

SPRING HILL – A local intersection known as 4-Corners, Spring Hill Drive and Mariner Blvd, is gaining notoriety for its traffic accidents and criminal activity. Just three days ago, a Hernando County Sheriff’s Deputy was beaten by a man suspected of being under the influence of drugs, after he was asked to leave the Circle K Convenience Store. Chaos erupted again last night, after a minor traffic crash turned into a hit and run, physical altercation, and even a kidnapping.
