Sex Offense Suspect Slips Through Window, Pursuit Leads to Gated Community
SPRING HILL – A suspect in an underage sex offense case gave deputies the slip Friday, after they tried to serve a warrant for his arrest at a residence on Springwood Road.
According to reports, deputies responded to 4475 Springwood Road and made contact with a woman who advised that the suspect, 20-year-old Joshua Mark Breida was in her son’s bedroom. When Deputies entered the room they observed Breida climbing through a window.
With the assistance of a K-9 Unit, Deputies pursued Breida through the power lines and into the gated Haverhill Subdivision of Sterling Hill. After jumping several backyard fences, Breida was finally taken into custody at a residence on Haverhill Drive.
During a search, Deputies discovered 26 pills that were later identified as Methylphenidate Hydrochloride, a common drug used to treat ADD and ADHD.
Breida is charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and on two outstanding warrants for Burglary, and Lewd and Lascivious on a minor under 16. The details of the warrants have not been released by officials.
Breida remains behind bars at the Hernando County Jail on a $23,000 bond.
