DeShawn Smith ran for three touchdowns, and returned a fumble for a score as Nature Coast beat Citrus 36-0.

With the win, the Sharks (8-0,5-0 5A-7) have secured the 5A-7 District Title and a home playoff game.

In the 5A-Region 2 Quarterfinals, Nature Coast will host former district opponent Zephyrhills while 5A-7 runner-up Lecanto will travel to undefeated River Ridge.

Fans of ground games would love the potential River Ridge-Nature Coast tilt, as it would feature Smith against Knight’s tailback Chris Schwarz, who is 876 yards away from setting the Pasco County career rushing record.

Smith ran 15 times for 292 yards, putting his total at 2,195 yards and 35 touchdowns on the  ground this season.

While the Nature Coast offense was able to run the ball well, it was the defense that kept Citrus (1-7,1-4 5A-7) off the scoreboard all night.

The Sharks held the ‘Canes to 130 yards of total offense, but the penalties seemed to be a red flag, as Nature Coast committed 14 for 120 yards.
