Teenager Dies in Late Night Rollover Crash

NEW PORT RICHEY (PASCO) – A two vehicle crash claimed the life of a teenager last night, after the truck he was riding in collided with another vehicle and overturned.

According the Florida Highway Patrol, 23-year-old Jorge Cruz-Bianco was traveling westbound on SR-54 in a Honda Civic when he attempted to overtake a Ford pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Robert Baldree.  As a result, the Civic collided with the right rear of the pickup truck, causing it to rotate and overturn, killing 18-year-old Cory J. Teabout of New Port Richey. The driver and a second passenger only suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Civic was not injured.

Officials say alcohol does not appear to be a factor but charges are pending.

CORRECTION: Earlier we reported that the pickup truck collided with the rear of the Civic. That was in error and we have corrected the narrative. We apologize for the error.

  • Sounds to me like the civic was purposefully trying to take out this truck. He went out of his lane, causing a direct hit to the truck’s right rear… this is an example of a pit maneuver.

And yes, other information is available from all the other people on the scene as well as the two boys that walked away from the truck.

          • I was not meaning to appear to be disagreeing with you. Your corrected article as it appears on this site is clear. I was responding to FoodForThought. However the initial poster, while incorrect about the individual being, was also responding to your originally posted article.

What I can tell you from the many witnesses on scene is that the driver of the Civic couldn’t stand up and kept falling into the grass. In addition, from the eye witnesses the car was going at excessive speeds before inserting itself under the back end of the truck as it went to transition into the next lane. How anyone can misjudge that badly is beyond me.

While I understand the BA came up negative there does appear to be something further at play here.

Regardless-You can’t take back your earlier incorrect article. That article is what some people are quoting now to point fingers at someone that couldn’t have done anything to prevent this-the driver of the truck (please see Bethy’s comment above for an example). They aren’t going to come back and read your correction unless directed to it. And that is yet another true tragedy as that was his friend that was killed through someone else’s reckless actions.

  • Driving like an idiot caused the death of his friend. RIP

    Monday, 16 January 2017, 2:05 pm
    • For Gods sake someone lost a child. The highway is six Lanes at that point . What makes you think he was driving like an idiot? Since he was trying to overtake another vehicle, maybe he didn’t realize how slow the vehicle was going and he accidentally clipped it as he was passing it. That is called a mistake yes a preventable mistake but it doesn’t make him an idiot.

      Monday, 16 January 2017, 3:40 pm
    • Oh for God’s sakes! The CIVIC rear ended the pickup truck. The pickup truck had the three boys in it. The driver of the civic MURDERED their friend because he was speeding, driving stupid, and likely on something. Learn to read idiot.

      • Wow Cassie, thanks, my comment was to get people to stop criticizing other people and you call me an idiot, okay well what does that make you ?

        Thursday, 19 January 2017, 1:04 am
        • My apologies that my reply came under yours. I was using an older browser with a few compatibility issues.. It is in response to Bethy’s not yours.

But, point taken. I’m an idiot. Everyone knows they shouldn’t be looking up news stories when it is a story personal to their heart. The story isn’t going to be right and the people judging aren’t going to care about any retractions a news site may make later. (Once again, not you Oh no.)

    • How do you know he was driving like an idiot? That spick was the one that hit him. Why don’t you shut your dumb mouth before you say something stupid.
