Christmas Day Fire Damages Brooksville Home

BROOKSVILLE – The Red Cross assisted a family of five Christmas evening, after fire damaged their home on Nightwalker Road.

According to officials, Fire Rescue responded to the 7200 block of Nightwalker Road around 9:00 p.m., where they discovered flames and heavy smoke coming from the garage. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control but not before severely damaging the garage and part of an interior laundry room. The remainder of the home sustained heavy smoke damage.

Family members say they left the residence for a short time and when they returned the house was on fire. The home did not have properly functioning smoke detectors, according to fire officials. No injuries have been reported.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of fire.
