Boy, 2, Dies After Being Struck by Train, Babysitter in Stable Condition

ZEPHYRHILLS (PASCO) - Officials have confirmed that the 2-year-old child who was struck by a CSX train earlier today has died.

According to the latest information from Pasco County Officials, 2-year-old Hunter Fink died from injuries he sustained after being struck by a train near Paul S. Buchman Hwy, just before noon today.

The woman officials are calling Fink’s babysitter, 26-yer-old Heather Henderson was airlifted to a trauma center and is listed in stable condition.

Officials say through their investigation they have determined that Hunter and his 4-year-old sister were walking along the train tracks with Henderson and an adult male, identified as Cody Williams. When they realized a train was coming, Williams grabbed the 4-year-old girl and jumped off the bridge to safety (about an 8 foot jump). Heather Henderson was holding Hunter but was unable to jump out of the way in time; subsequently, They were both hit by the train.
CSX and the Sheriff’s Office are continuing their investigation in the tragic incident.

ZEPHYRHILLS (PASCO) – The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a 2-year-old has been struck by a CSX Train in the area of Paul S. Buchman Hwy.

According to officials, the incident occurred around 11:55 a.m. this morning and emergency personnel are on the scene.

Officials have not confirmed the following details but according to our sources the child may have been playing on the tracks along with other children and a babysitter at the time of the accident. It is also believed that CPR was performed on the child prior to the arrival of Bayflite. The child’s condition is unknown at this time.

Sources also say there may be a second victim that will be will airlifted to a trauma center but the age and gender of that victim is unknown.
