BREAKING: Large Gas Leak Prompts Several Businesses to Evacuate, Major Intersections Shut Down

UDPATE: 11:22 P.M. – Officials say TECO Gas Company has contained the leak and fire officials are preparing to reopen roadways and and businesses. The scene should be clear in less than 15 minutes, according to officials.

SPRING HILL – For the second time is less than a week a fractured natural gas line has prompted evacuations and road closures along Mariner Blvd. According to sources, around 10:00 a.m. this morning, Fire Rescue responded to the area of Mariner Blvd and Northcliffe Blvd, after receiving reports of a natural gas leak. Sources say the company RMC Solutions is responsible for puncturing the line. At this time Walgreens Drug Store, Speedway Gas Stations, and several small businesses in close proximity have been completely evacuated. Mariner Blvd is closed in both directions and traffic is being diverted several blocks from the scene. Northcliffe Blvd is closed at Lamson Ave. There are no reports of injuries at this time.     1. A coworker has children there - the daycare could not confirm whether it’s safe or not but there is not mandatory evacuation at this time for the daycare.

    1. Yes it has re-opened as of noon. I hope that they fine those responsible for this. I just hate it when they make you detour and then your on a road that you have no clue where you are other than your still in Spring Hill. BUT IT IS OPEN NOW…..
