Former Weeki Wachee High School Student Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A multi-vehicle crash claimed the life of a former Weeki Wachee High School Student Thursday, after a semi-tractor-trailer collided with her vehicle on I-75.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 19-year-old Nadia Anderson of Spring Hill was stopped behind several other vehicles in the northbound outside lanes at mile marker 272. The driver of a semi, 39-year-old Pedro Martinez-Fernandez was traveling in the same direction and failed to observe stopped traffic. As a result the semi collided with the rear of Anderson’s 2006 Saturn, causing a chain reaction collision into three other vehicles ahead of her. The impact caused fatal injuries to Anderson and she died at the scene. Only one other driver suffered minor injuries and was transported locally for treatment.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation and charges are pending, say officials.

  1. Life is precious, kiss your kids, hug them, tell them you love them, because you just never know what the day will bring. R.I.P, Nadia, you will be missed.

  2. Nadia was always smiling and happy. She was always the first to offer her help to someone in need. Such a sweet soul gone to soon. Fly high girly, we will forever remember you. Praying for her family 😭 There is also a go fund me to help her parents cover the cost of the funeral. Please donate if you can.
