Man Suspected of Violently Beating His Own Mother Behind Bars

BROOKSVILLE – Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man suspected of brutally beating his own mother during at incident at her home on Alice Street, Sunday afternoon.

According to reports, a woman contacted the Sheriff’s Office around 2:30 p.m., after the victim, Ann Decelle, came to her home on State Street, bleeding from the face, and claiming that her son had just battered her. The neighbor, whose identity we are not revealing, says moments after Ann came to her house, Josh Decelle knocked on her door, asking if his mother was there. The neighbor says Josh had a very large knife fastened to his hip, so out of fear for Ann’s safety, she told Josh that Ann was not there.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they located Ann lying on the floor, battered, bruised, and covered in blood. Ann told deputies that during an argument with her son, Josh pushed her to the ground and punched her several times in the face, and stomach.

Josh fled the scene before deputies were able to locate him in the area.

Around 6:00 p.m., deputies received a tip that Josh was hiding out at a residence on Tampa Street. Due to Josh’s violent history and concerns that he may be armed with a large knife, several deputies coordinated a well-planned approach to the residence, heavily armed, and with the assistance of a K-9 Unit. Josh was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Hernando County Jail.

29-year-old Joshua Adam Decelle is charged with Domestic Battery and remains behind bars, held on a $5,000 bond.

Ann Decelle was transported to Oakhill Hospital for treatment but her current condition is unknown.

    1. It has to do with the theory that a persons is innocent until proven guilty. The purpose of bail is two fold. One is to insure that they will appear in court on the date established; the second is protection of the community. When there is a HIGH probability that someone will commit violence if released the bail is set higher. It is unconstitutional for judges to set bail so high just to keep someone in jail who is ACCUSED of an unpopular event.
Not saying I necessarily agree, but just to clarify why $hitbirds get out. This POS needs a good a$$ kickin’.

  1. Really this guy is gonna get what’s comeing to him 5000 bail ya he will be back on the street soon and in someone else’s grandmothers face soon enough just you wait maby even your own face will have to look at him and deal withe this *** hole becuase the bail is so low

  2. 5000 bail? You get a higher bail for a theft charge in most cases. The system sucks, it really does . How about no bail or at least 100k for an offense like this. If you will beat your own mother, what won’t you do?

  3. Flakka? How stupid are you? Where in the article does it even mention drugs? Some people are just violent individuals, stop making it about something it isn’t! Flakka, my a$$!
